So we've turned into a one stop shop for porn apparently. I know some sites with problems like this put in a system for registration where you have to type in the word that's shown, into a box. It keeps the bots away, or so they say. I was half asleep when I first came on today, and saw one of the topic titles and thought "That doesn't sound like a movie Evi would be in."

This is just ridiculous *sigh* . I think the best one option to minimize these spams is to have Janine or the other site admins individually confirm each new member so that they can't sign up and start spamming like crazy. I have seen this happen on a few boards and its worked really well. Another option could be to delete users who haven't posted anything useful or related to Evi after a certain number of months...just some suggestions

almost every day I have to ban someone. so if you see some spam just report it.

another thing if you are using a image host please use Imagine ban or Photobucket other host contain porn ads.

I deleted all the posts and banned the IP of the user who did this.
I'm here almost all the time, but I can't be here 24/7 so I apologize.
I tried to delete all the posts as fast as possible.

you can't stop spam..it will happen.
we just have to pay attention to new members and new posts.

if you guys see spams about porn/liposuction/ or any other just report back.

No need to apologize either. Not your fault, this is just how the internet is. You do the best you can, and this site/board have been fantastic... far better than most fan sites, that's for sure.

the spams here are not that bad because as soon there's just 2-3 posts the user get banned.
that's why we are 2 admin.

and Jenna deleted few spams as well and contacted me to ban that person.

It's just a TEAM work.

Here's what I did when porn bots attacked my site.
I created a registration field where it asks you "Are you human? Write the word of approval, starting with a Y and ending with an S." or something like that. And you have to make sure to set the only acceptable answer to "Yes".
No bots ever since.

Yep, I just thought it was funny. It didn't bother me or anything, just thought it was funny... because my actual reaction to the first one I saw was "that doesn't sound like a movie Evi would do.' Like I said above. Then I clicked on it and realized I'm a moron. I love this site and board, like I've said, it's better than most fan sites I know of.

Well I hope it helps. I can't be sure if PhpBB can do that though, I'm positive you can make custom profile fields to fill out on the registration page but I'm not sure if you can set a specific answer that is the only one that can be accepted.

I don't think this forum have that option.

so for now what we should all do if you see any spam PM a mod or admin and we take care of that.
