The thoughts of mtl350 on imdb who went to the screening

The film premiered at the TIFF Sunday to a full house, including cast and director. Despite a few problems with the projectionist's focus, the film was very well shot and overall a meditation on the subject of death and loss. It is not an easy subject matter, and those who have no sensibility for it will not get it at all. Only a few people left before the Q&A, most stayed and seemed touched by the film. There were lots of tears and thanks for bringing the subject matter to light. I am so glad I saw this film! Evangeline is beautiful in every scene. The acting is very good. This could be the sleeper hit of the year. We were very impressed and glad we went.

I have been wondering we hadn't had any pics or vids from the Q&A..i want to see it, maybe we will get them closer to the time the movie is released.

I want to see this movie too, at first it was only because Evi was in it but now i have read the reviews i want to see it because it might actually be good lol . All the good reviews so far have touched on the fact that the movie was visually stunning, very thought provoking and wonderfully acted with a great message etc..which is the type of movies i like :)

Short review
Afterwards – A moody film about dying that is competently done, has the right amount of intrigue, some strong performances (and one not so strong performance by Evangeline Lilly), but which fades fast in my memory. Rating: ★★★☆☆

French reviews of Afterwards

"[...]The movie is really slow to start. Unfortunetly it starts by boring the spectator with a story of a death messenger, story already known in other movies, but still difficult to understand. The second part of the movie is more emotional and allow the movie to have a new start. The couple Duris/Lilly share with us some good moments of emotion, feelings, nostalgy and regrets too. [...]
The movie is interesting even if it's déjà-vu, but we'll keep in mind the performance of this trio of actors."
